This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for how you may use Platewise. It supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all users of the Service.
By using Platewise, you agree to follow this policy. Violation may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account.

3. Community recipes
Platewise allows users to share recipes publicly with the community. When sharing recipes, you must:
- Only share recipes you have created yourself, or that you have the right to share
- Not share recipes copied directly from cookbooks or websites without significant adaptation
- Ensure shared content is accurate and not misleading
- Not use recipe sharing for advertising, spam, or promotional purposes
Content standards
All publicly shared recipes must meet these standards. Recipes must not contain:
- Offensive, hateful, or discriminatory language
- Sexually explicit or violent content
- Personal information about other individuals
- Links to external websites
- Content that promotes dangerous or harmful practices
4. Recipe import and scanning
The URL import and photo scan features are provided for personal use only.
- You may import recipes from websites for your personal recipe library
- You must not make imported recipes public without having the right to share them
- You may scan your personal cookbook collection for your own use
- You must not use these features to systematically harvest recipes at scale
When importing from websites, be aware that the original recipe remains the intellectual property of its publisher.
5. Account and access
- You may only create one account per person
- You must not share your account credentials with others
- You must not create accounts using false identities or on behalf of others without their permission
- You must not attempt to access, modify, or delete other users' data
- You must not probe, scan, or test the security of the Service
6. Technical use
You must not use Platewise in ways that could damage, disable, or impair the Service:
- No automated access, scraping, or crawling of the Service
- No use of bots, scripts, or other automated tools to interact with the Service
- No attempts to circumvent rate limiting or access controls
- No introduction of viruses, malware, or harmful code
- No attempts to reverse engineer or decompile any part of the Service
- No use of the Service in ways that place unreasonable load on our infrastructure
7. Allergen and dietary information
Platewise provides allergen and dietary information as a convenience feature. You must not:
- Rely solely on Platewise for allergen safety decisions
- Share recipes with inaccurate allergen or dietary information
- Use Platewise as a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice
Always verify ingredient information directly from packaging and consult a healthcare professional for medical dietary requirements.
8. Reporting violations
If you encounter content or behaviour that violates this policy, please report it to us at hello@platewise.app. Please include:
- A description of the issue
- The username or recipe involved (if applicable)
- Any relevant screenshots
We review all reports and will take appropriate action, which may include removing content or suspending accounts.
9. Consequences of violations
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may:
- Issue a warning
- Remove the offending content
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account
- Report serious violations to relevant authorities
We will aim to give notice before taking action, except where the violation is serious or where notice could cause harm.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes. Continued use of Platewise after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
